Three Obsidian Sunless Ingredients You Should Know About

Oct 21, 2021

Being a sunless glow-getter is all about being dedicated and educated, girl! Can I get an “OKURRR!?” As your sunless sister that has been around the spray tanning block and learned a whole lotta things, I feel it is my duty to create a space that helps to spread the knowledge that I’ve gained in the industry throughout the years.

In addition to that, it’s a MAJOR passion of mine to offer the best of the best sunless products for all spray tan artists to use. It’s really important to me that the products I create can be trusted among artists and their clients. That means, quality products made with quality ingredients that help to protect the health of your skin overall!

Today I want to dive deeper into the nitty gritty of a few of the beautiful ingredients that I’m so proud to have included in Obsidian Sunless tanning solution (ya know.. in case you haven’t taken a peak at the ingredients list already ;)). I was very intentional with making sure that the Obsidian Sunless blends were created with organic and natural ingredients that work together to offer a light to dark sunless tanning experience that works for most skin types and tones.

The ingredients used in these products were meant to not only create a breathtaking sunless tan that looks amazing, but also offers an experience that feels amazing on the skin from the first few seconds after getting sprayed, to after your first rinse and through the life of the tan.

Below I highlight just a few of the ingredients included in Obsidian Sunless that allow you to receive the ultimate healthy glow.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice a.k.a Organic Aloe Vera

You may be familiar with Aloe as a product to use to help reduce the effects of a sunburn and help soothe the skin. However, the reason why this is such a great product to use on burns is also part of the reason it is such a great product to use in tanning solution. According got Baylor College of Medicine, Aloe Vera provides healing anti-inflammatory properties and is rich in antioxidants, enzymes, as well as vitamins A and C. This ingredient helps to add moisture to the skin, giving it a smooth feel and appearance and the antioxidants that naturally occur in this ingredient actually help to reduce the signs of aging! That’s right, we are big on saying “no, bish” to fine lines & wrinkles at Spray Tan Class!

Caprylic Triglyceride

This ingredient may be one that isn’t as recognizable to you as Aloe Vera unless you’ve worked in the cosmetics or esthetics industry. This ingredient is often used as an emollient in makeup and skincare products because it interacts with other ingredients very well and is safe for the majority of people. According to an interview on Byrdie done with dermatologist Ife Rodney, Caprylic Triglyceride is derived from the fatty acids of coconut oil and combined with glycerine. Some of the benefits of this well-rounded ingredient include being a smoothing and moisturizing agent to the skin, providing antioxidants that reduce the signs of aging skin, and due to the antimicrobial properties of coconut oil helps to rebalance the microbiome of the skin while intervening in bacteria growth. Pretty cool stuff, if you ask me!

Hyaluronic Acid

This ingredient may be one of my most favorites that we have included into the delicious list of naturally derived ingredients that make up Obsidian Sunless. Hyaluronic Acid is an ingredient that is already naturally produced by our bodies to retain moisture! So think of an extra dose of this special additive into your spray tan as a quench of water that works to replenish and hydrate. Being that this acid helps moisturize dry and depleted skin, it also has age fighting benefits that help reduce the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles, according to Healthline.com

Reading through the descriptions of these ingredients you can probably find a few underlying themes. That’s right, girl.. We are all about replenishing moisture and reducing the signs of aging to support healthy glowing skin! Not to mention, nourished skin is essential for the longevity and quality of a spray tan.

Welp, that’s the exciting information I have for you about the science-y things that go into product development! If you’d like to learn more about what else is included in Obsidian Sunless head over to XTan Sunless!
